Bol Bachchan beats Housefull 2, Singham record at Box Office

Ajay Devgn's latest movie Bol Bachchan, which has scored Rs 43.10 crores nett in three days, has beaten the first weekend collection record of Housefull 2 and Ajay's previous film Singham, which have joined the club of 100 crore movies. But it has failed to surpass the record of recently released Rowdy Rathore.

Bol Bachchan was expected to receive an earth-shattering response at the Box Office. But its business was affected by Eega in South and Jatt and Juliet in North India. The movie raked in Rs 12.10 crores nett on the first day. Whereas Housefull 2 and Singham had collected Rs 13.25 crore and Rs 9.03 crores respectively.

The collection of Bol Bachchan improved by approximately 18% on Saturday. The movie grossed Rs 14 crores nett at the Box Office on Saturday. Whereas Housefull 2 and Singham had collected Rs 12.75 crore and Rs 9.67 crores respectively. With this, Bol Bachchan has beaten Housefull 2 with a small margin and Singham with a big margin on the second day of its release.
The business of Bol Bachchan grew up further with its collection reaching Rs 17 crores nett at the Box Office on the third day. Whereas the business of Housefull 2 and Singham had also improved, but not up to the level of Bol Bachchan. These films had collected Rs 16 crores and Rs 12.37 crores respectively.

The first weekend total of Housefull 2 and Singham was Rs 42 crores nett Rs 31.07 crores nett respectively. Whereas Bol Bachchan has raked in Rs 43.10 crores nett in the first weekend. However, its collection figures are a little away from that of Rowdy Rathore, which had raked in Rs 47.50 crores nett in the opening weekend. It should be seen whether it will Rowdy Rathore first week collection record.

Original 'Rowdy Rathore' Ravi Teja, gives Akshay Kumar run for his money

Six years after Telugu superstar Ravi Teja’s 'Virkramarkudu' stormed the boxoffice, news comes from Hyderabad that the makers are all set to do a sequel to the blockbuster.

Interestingly the sequel to 'Rowdy Rathore', the Hindi remake of 'Virkramarkudu' is also being planned. But at the moment Ravi Teja has an edge, since his director already has an idea for the sequel. The 'Rowdy Rathor'e team are clueless as to where the sequel goes from here.

Ravi Teja, the topmost leading man of Telugu cinema is suddenly a recognizable face in the Northern belt, thanks to the interest in Ravi’s 'Virkramarkudu' the Telugu original superhit version of 'Rowdy Rathore'. Post the blockbuster status accorded to 'Rowdy Rathore', Ravi Teja’s 'Virkramarkudu' has been dubbed into Hindi and shown extensively on the Hindi television channels.

Speaking amidst his hectic schedule in Hyderabad Ravi said, “I was shooting for a Telugu film at the Taj Mahal in Agra and there were all these women and children pointing and screaming , ‘Rowdy Rathore’. But I am not really 'Rowdy Rathore'. I am the guy who did the original version of 'Rowdy Rathore' six years ago.”

Ravi Teja has wonderful things to say about Akshay Kumar, but has some quibbles with the remake. “Some of the scenes were done in Prabhu Deva’s style.They were good. Akshay has done a fabulous job with the comedy. When he says I’ve done a better job in the original he’s just being humble. Fact is, he has caught on to the mood of the original and given it his own twist. Ever since Akshay worked with Priyadarshan his sense of comedy has become brilliant.”

However Ravi Teja finds some elements from the original missing in the remake. “Some of the highlights from the original were missing in 'Rowdy Rathore'. There was this big scene where I fight with the women-folk. That has been done away in the remake. I asked Prabhu Deva about that scene. And he said, ‘Akshay fighting with women would have looked politically incorrect.’ But in the original women loved  that scene. Anyway the remake has worked. It’s a blockbuster. And we cannot dispute success.”

Ravi Teja is surprised to know about the plans of a sequel to 'Rowdy Rathore'. “Really? They’re planning a sequel? My 'Virkramarkudu' director Rajamouli and I are also planning a sequel. He has an idea. We’re working on it. Rajamouli is a very hard worker. He is the Aamir Khan of Telugu filmmaking.”

Ravi Teja is open to Bollywood offers. “Arrey yaar, mujhe koi mauqa to de!” says the superstar of Telugu cinema who is known as the Mass Maharaja. “I want to do Hindi films. But a proper one and a good production. I’m even open to multi-starrers because those work better in Bollywood. But it should be with only Bollywood technicians, not the South Indian team. There’s no point to my going to Bollywood if I work with the same artistes and technicians.”

Though Ravi is from Andhra Pradesh he has spent a lot of his formative years in Mumbai and Jaipur. “Hum banjare hain. I’ve struggled a lot to get where I am. I initially got rejected by every producer. But no complaints. I enjoyed each and every moment of the struggle. My first break came in 1997 from Krishna Vamsi and then Puri Jagannadh who is my closest friend. I owe everything I am to him. Our careers have evolved simultaneously.”

Ask him about the pressures of stardom and Ravi Teja quips, “I don’t take myself seriously. Others should take me seriously, I don’t. Zindagi mein yeh karma wohkarna hai yeh phadna hai who phadna nai, none of that for me. I’m happy with whatever comes my way. Basically I believe only in entertainment. Audiences like me doing action and comedy. I am a jovial person from childhood and so I remain. I like to laugh my way through my work. And that attitude reflects in my roles. Even women hate me doing rona-dhona roles. So I don’t do emotional films. I did a fantastic emotional film Autograph. But audiences rejected me in it. They like to see  me laughing and fighting. Like Akshay Kumar. I’m often compared with him. I guess our destinies are joined together.”

Ask him how he feels being known as Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja bursts out laughing. “One of my directors named me that. It has stuck. It feels good when fans shout that out.”

Ravi Teja’s wife keeps completely out of his profession. “She is a full fledged housewife. My wife and children never come on my sets. Aisa nahin ki main unhe rok raha hoon. They don’t come. They watch all my films in the movie theatres.”

Genelia D'Souza faces suit in Andhra court in cheating case

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh High Court Wednesday directed actor Genelia D'Souza to appear before it personally or through her lawyer in a cheating case related to the purchase of a house from a company for which she was brand ambassador.

 The court asked for April 25 appearance to explain why her name should not be included in the first information report (FIR), said Balaji, counsel of the petitioner Chatta Tirupathaiah.

 The high court was dealing with a petition Tirupathaiah filed regarding his purchase of a duplex house from real estate company Anjaniputra Infrastructure Pvt Ltd (APiPL).

 He alleged that police had not complied with a lower court's order to file a case against Genelia and five directors of the company for defaulting on giving him possession of the duplex house.

 Tirupathaiah alleged that the police registered an FIR against directors of the real estate firm but left out Genelia.

 The Nampally court, on his petition, last month directed Saifabad police to register a case.

 Tirupataiah alleged that Genelia as the brand ambassador lured customers to the company by giving it a clean chit for good management practices and thus had a role in the fraud.

 According to him, she had even claimed in the promotion that she was one the directors of the company and bought plots in the venture.

 Tirupataiah in 2008 had paid Rs.54 lakh to APiPL for a plot and construction of a duplex house on it at Kalvakolu village in the Maheswaram mandal of Ranga Reddy district. The house has not yet been constructed. He claimed the company, which collected nearly Rs.250 crore from buyers had not even begun the registration process for the venture.

Salman Khan to lend voice for Andaz Apna Apna in 3D

MUMBAI: Producer Siddharth Jain, who desires to make a 3D version of Andaz Apna Apna, has got confirmation from most of the lead actors.

"I’ve already spoken to Salman Khan, Raveena Tandon and Shakti Kapoor and they said they’ll be glad to work it out. I’ll need them only later this August-September and I’m sure of them agreeing to dub for their characters," said Jain to the press.

The film took almost a year to script and translate into 3D animation. It has a budget of 15 crore, which includes print and advertising. Original tracks will be modified with contemporary sound.

Now, waiting only for Aamir Khan's confirmation, Jain is optimistic that he will be able to actualize the film soon. "The only person I’ll have to try harder for is Aamir, if he likes it, I’m sure he will (agree to do it). I’ll be finalizing things in another month or two. I will be in a better position to talk about it then," he said.

Looking to release in the first half of 2013, Jain accepts, "We know that people will be coming in expecting the humour at par with the original."

Star Plus' Diya Aur Baati Hum tops the TAM data

Diya Aur Baati Hum on Star Plus topped the TAM data released for Week 8 of 2012 (February 19-25). While Star TV retained five among the top ten programmes aired on TV, Sony retained two shows. Colors, Zee TV and SAB TV secured one show in the list.

First Position: Star Plus' Diya Aur Baati Hum has topped the charts with 6.56 TVR this week. Last week, the serial recorded 6.12 TVR.

Second Position: Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai rose to the 2nd position from last week's 6th position. The serial recorded 4.65 TVR, while last week it was 4.18.

Third Position: The 3rd spot was bagged by Filmfare Awards on Sony with 4.59 TVR recorded this week.

Fourth Position: Saathia on Star Plus secured the 4th position for itself with 4.44 TVR this week in comparison to last week's 5.08.

Fifth Position: Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon slipped from the 2nd position and came down to the 5th spot this week with 4.18 TVR recorded this week. Last week, the TVR for Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon was 5.24.


Sixth Position: Sony’s CID holds the No. 6 position with 3.99 TVR this week against 3.92 TVR last week.

Seventh Position: Balika Badhu of Colors remained stable at No. 7 with a record of 3.98 TVR this week. Last week, the show fetched 3.81 TVR.


Eighth Position: Ek Hazaron Mein Meri Behna Hai on Star Plus fell to the No. 8 position with 3.88 TVR.
Last week the serial was at No. 5 spot with 4.19 TVR.

Ninth Position: Zee TV's Pavitra Rishta made an entry in the 9th spot with its show Pavitra Rishta. This week, the show recorded TVR of 3.77 TVR this week.

Tenth Position: Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma on SAB TV continues at No. 10. The show fetched 3.72 TVR in comparison to 3.59 TVR collected last week.

Bigg Boss 6: Salman Khan asks Sanjay Dutt to host show

It is being speculated for some time that Salman Khan will be bidding goodbye to Bigg Boss show. It is now confirmed that Salman Khan, who was part of Bigg Boss 4 and Bigg Boss 5 will not host Bigg Boss 6.

Fans of Salman Khan are in for a disappointment as they will not see their favourite actor host the 6th season of Bigg Boss. The buzz is that Salman Khan has many movie projects lined up this year and does not have time to spare for Bigg Boss 6. He has requested Sanjay Dutt to host this season's Bigg Boss.

Actress Katrina Kaif is truly the empress when it comes to the fashion world. Having an international modelling background, Kats definitely reigns the ramp shows in India. A recent buzz reveal that Katrina will be paying a visit to Kochi to walk the ramp at an upcoming fashion show.

Shilpa Shetty is all set to dress cheer girls to bring some more glamour at the martial arts fighting tournament.

Shilpa Shetty has decided to help out her husband Raj Kundra in every possible way. Raj along with Sanjay Dutt will soon be launching a mixed martial arts fighting league in the country soon. Cheer girls will be employed to inject the oomph quotient in the martial arts.

Speaking about her role, Shilpa Shetty said that though she cannot be actively involved in the activity since she is seven months pregnant, she will take auditions for the ring girls. The auditions for the cheer girls have already begun and Shilpa feels that the right candidates should be hot and beautiful.

The actress is of the opinion that selecting the right cheer girls is extremely important, since they get equally noticed as the contestants.

Shilpa Shetty, along with hubby Raj Kundra wants to make their martial arts fighting league a success and hence are keen to make the event as enjoyable as possible by bringing in a little of the glam factor.

Shilpa Shetty along with her designer friends Shantanu and Nikhil will help dress up the girls. The martial arts fighting league will start from March 11.

TNLHG wins, Jodi Breakers fails at Box Office in first week

Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya and Jodi Breakers have completed the first week at the Box with an average business. Although TNLHG is leading the collection chart by beating Jodi Breakers, its performance is not up to the mark. TNLHG has collected Rs 13 crores nett, while the other film grossed Rs 8.5 crores nett in the first week.

Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya opened to an average response on Friday and collected Rs 7.40 crores nett in the first weekend. Riteish Genelia starrer film maintained its pace on weekdays and added approximately Rs 5.60 crores to its total domestic collection Rs 13 crores nett.

The movie was released in four foreign countries like UK, Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. But its collection has not crossed 1 crore mark in any of them. Its highest earning from foreign country is coming from the UK. It has grossed Rs 97.67 lacs in the country in the first week. It has raked in Rs 24.35 lacs in Australia, Rs 1.39 lacs in New Zealand and Rs 5.48 lacs in Fiji in the first week.

Whereas, another release Jodi Breakers also started its business at very low pace at the Box Office throughout the first week and raked in Rs 8.5 crore nett. Its collection also remained poor at overseas Box Office. The movie has collected Rs 15.15 lacs in the UK, Rs 13.66 lacs in Australia, Rs 3.08 lacs in New Zealand and Rs 2.94 lacs in Fiji in the first week of its release.

Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor receives unknown calls?

Bollywood couple Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor, who have recently landed in Morocco to shoot their upcoming movie Agent Vinod, were overwhelmed with the love and concern shown by the localites. But strangely, both Saif and Bebo are receiving few anonymous calls from some Moroccan people.

A source told a leading daily that Saif and Bebo were actually shocked after receiving many unknown calls, despite not sharing their phone numbers with anyone. The source also added that many people are visiting the celebrity couple.

Even earlier Shahrukh Khan had visited Morocco, since he is addicted towards the local music there.

Sonam Kapoor says, I'm not dating anyone

Actress Sonam Kapoor has often been linked to Shahid Kapoor and director Punit Malhotra in the past. Now reports suggest that the actress is dating Sidhartha Mallya after he parting his ways from Deepika Padukone. But the Kapoor's beti has described the reports as the funniest rumors and she has also confirmed that she is not dating anyone.

Sonam Kapoor was shocked after reading rumours about her love affair with Sidhartha Mallya and she took to her Twitter page to laugh off the reports. The Bollywood actress wrote, “I'm hearing the funniest rumors about myself! In thailand and all I can say is I'm on the floor laughing.”

The actress further tweeted and clarified that she is not dating Shahid or Punit or Sidhartha. On her Twitter account, Sonam Kapoor wrote, “Okay morning guys I'm not mad @shahidkapoor or @punitdmalhotra and I'm not dating anyone! I'm minding my own business and working! Capish??”

Sushant Singh Rajput forays into Bollywood?

In spite of walking out of Ekta Kapoor's serial Pavitra Rishta, Sushant Singh Rajput has many things to look forward to as far as his career is concerned.

Though Sushant Singh Rajput has been receiving a lot of film offers, he is still taking his time to decide which one he must go with. Talking about his stint on TV, Sushant Singh Rajput said that he was earlier of the opinion that Indian Television actors are not seen in the same league as Bollywood actors. Sushant then added, “I have been fortunate though that film offers have been coming my way and I have the privilege to choose the right films for myself.”

Sushant is not keen on doing hero-centric roles. The actor is ready to do any role as long as it's challenging. Meanwhile, Sushant Singh Rajput, who is today one of the most sought after actors on TV has also received training from acting guru Barry John and choreographer Shiamak Davar to make sure that he becomes a success on the big screen as well.

Riteish Deshmukh weds Genelia D'Souza in Marathi style

Bollywood actors Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D'Souza tied the knot today in traditional Marathi style at a five-star hotel here in the presence of leading figures from Bollywood and the world of politics. Riteish, wearing a white sherwani and red 'feta' (turban), entered the hotel on a 'ghodi'. The 'baaraat' started from the grounds near Grand Hyatt and reached the hotel.

The actor's politician father Vilasrao Deshmukh was dressed in a brown sherwani. Among those present were Sharad Pawar, Prithviraj Chavan, Praful Patel, Abhishek Bachchan, Kajol and Ajay Devgn. Riteish and Genelia had been seeing each other since their Bollywood debut Tujhe Meri Kasam in 2003.

In a run-up to the main ceremony, a pre-wedding bash was organised by actor Fardeen Khan and producer Sajid Nadiadwala on January 25 followed by a sangeet ceremony at Taj Lands End hotel in suburban Bandra on January 31. Besides preparing for the big day, Riteish and Genelia had also been busy promoting their forthcoming film Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya that will hit theatres on February 24.

Salman denies backing Shirish in his fight with Shahrukh

Actor Salman Khan has slammed the reports that he supported filmmaker Shirish Kunder in his fight with Shahrukh Khan. Earlier this week, an English daily had claimed that Salman had called Shirish to offer his support. The Bollywood star, who is currently shooting in Cuba, has denied calling the husband of Farah Khan.

On Tuesday, the English daily claimed that Shirish Kunder told them about Salman's call to him. But a source close to Salman Khan's family reveals that the actor is busy shooting for his upcoming movie in Cuba and he does not have  network to contact his family over there. So he has not called anyone, but his name has been unnecessarily dragged into this controversy.

However, in a telephonic chat with BT, Salman Khan himself has confirmed he has not called Shirish. "I am filming in Cuba. I am not using my phone here. I haven't called anyone and no one has called me. If you are printing this also say hello to my mom and dad," the Times of India quotes Salman as saying over phone.

Shahrukh denies to offer his version of Shirish's fight

Shahrukh Khan, who kept mum on his controversial fight with Shirish Kunder, has opened up about it in public, but denied to offer his own version of the Sunday night's incident. Kunder had accused SRK of slapping him at the party hosted by Sanjay Dutt. The Bollywood actor made the comments on the margins of a function a day after the patch up with director Farah Khan and her husband Shirish.

Talking to PTI, Shahrukh Khan said, "My children think of her as Farah aunty and it has been difficult for them to understand this whole issue. I do not want to give two versions of the incident. This is an entirely personal issue. My children will get confused if they hear one thing from me inside the house and another thing in public. That is why I don't comment on my personal life."

Shahrukh Khan kept himself away from commenting as the incident snowballed into a major controversy. Now, he says, “It is very embarrassing for me to talk about this incident in front of my children. My son is 14 and girl is 11 and half years. It is difficult to explain it in the family.”

However, Shahrukh Khan's friendship with Farah Khan had soured few years ago, but the duo also sorted out their issues at the patch up meet initiated by director Sajid Khan. "Farah is a very old friend. A lot about us has been written in the past two years. It has been very difficult for me to sit with that. It is nice to have friends back home. I am happy about it," SRK said. "Outsiders think that whatever people in Bollywood do is fun, even if it is personal," he added.

Amitabh Bachchan takes joy in flying kites

Mega Star Amitabh Bachchan said that flying kites for the shoot was full of fun and nostalgia, as he enjoyed the activity after a gap of almost 60 years during an ad campaign. The actor, who is the brand ambassador of Gujarat Tourism, is currently shooting for the second phase of 'Khushbu Gujarat Ki', a television commercial.

The campaign includes Ahmedabad's famous kite-flying festival, for which, the mega star flew kites. "Flew kites after almost 60 years! Shooting Uttarayan festival for tourism...such fun and nostalgia of School days!!" Bachchan wrote on twitter. The actor also posted a few pictures of himself enjoying the kite-flying activity and the crowd cheering him. "Kite flying... on the roof, chanting and screaming of those around, bells, thali sound and the kite," Bachchan said.

"People of Gujarat! A personal thank you for your love and affection... unpolluted, unreserved and filled with only love !!" he said. (PTI)

Agneepath has massive opening at Indian Box Office

Producer Karan Johar's latest movie Agneepath, which stars Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra and Sanjay Dutt in the leads, has had a massive opening at the Box Office in India. Its terrific advance booking suggests that the action thriller film would get record breaking collection. According to trade experts, the film is expected to gross Rs 21.5 crore net in the business centres in India on the first day.

Agneepath, which was released all over India on Thursday, 26 January, received positive reviews from almost all film critics. With this, the movie registered 95% to 100% occupancy in both single screens and multiplexes across the country. The film is expected to accumulate a massive total on the day 1.

However, Salman Khan starrer Bodyguard is the highest grosser on the first day with its collection Rs 21.6 crore net so far. Now, trade analysts' calculations show that Agneepath would collect more than Rs 21.5 crore net. Lara Dutta, who is due to deliver any time next month met Shahrukh Khan and Oprah Winfrey at a recent party hosted by Parmeshwar Godrej for Oprah. 

Lara was so happy meeting the two celebrities that she tweeted, “@Oprah and @iamsrk, two people I absolutely adore! Thankyou for making my day! Now can go into labour happily! :-)”

Shahrukh Khan in turn complimented Lara for looking beautiful in her last month of pregnancy. SRK tweeted, “@DuttaLara, it was awesome to meet u. U look so beautiful...masha allah...my prayers for the lil one to come.”

Speaking about the special party hosted by Parmeshwar Godrej, Shahrukh Khan wrote on Twitter, “So many ppl at Parmeshwar's do for Oprah. Speaks volumes about Parmeshwars happy hospitality & Oprah's achievements. Go girls more power to u!”

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara team boycotts Colors Screen Awards

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara recently shared the Best Film gong with The Dirty Picture at the 18th Annual Colors Screen Awards on Saturday. But except Katrina Kaif, the team of Zoya Akthar's film boycotted the award event. The reason for it is said to be jury member Sanjay Gupta's comment about the film being a copy.

According to sources the team of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara was upset over the Juries' plans to keep two teams happy by selecting them for Best Film. In a jury meeting, Sanjay Gupta had accused Zoya Akthar of copying an unpopular film. This allegation made the team stay away from the awards show.

However, Colors Screen Awards was a grand event, which witnessed the presence of biggies like Shahrukh Khan, Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra, Sonali Bendre, Priyanka Chopra, Asin, Deepika Padukone, Juhi Chawla and Madhuri Dixit. But the absence of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara team was a big disappointment on the occasion.

Hrithik Roshan feels he is a bad actor

In his 12-year-long career, Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan has played myriad roles like an aspiring singer in his debut film Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, a challenged boy in Koi Mil Gaya, a superhero in Krrish, a Mughal emperor in Jodha Akbar, a conman in Dhoom, a quadriplegic in Guzaarish and a workaholic in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. Despite taking everyone by surprise with his power-packed acts, he still feels that he is a bad actor. 

In an interview to PTI, Hrithik Roshan says that he thinks he is lacking even today. "I feel I am a very bad actor. My premise is that I can act well only when I am in a character. I have to know everything about the character so if I am not living I can't act it. I have to be that person... if I am not the person then I will be doing bad acting," PTI quotes him as saying.

Hrithik also admitted that he can't imitate anyone. "If you ask me to imitate I can't do it. Some may do it as they have talent. I get into the character completely then only I can act. I try to understand the character and then do it," he said.

In his initials days, he rocked at the box office, but he could not repeat the same with his later releases. Hrithik Roshan said, “It was January 14, 2000 when my first film as an actor was released. I have completed 12 years in the industry...I am so happy about it. I feel 12 years have not ended, not passed but its still a new beginning. It feels really nice when I think about the blessings. I really feel I am blessed.”

However, Karan Johar's latest movie is a remake of Agneepath and Hrithik Roshan is reprising the role of Vijay Dinanath Chauhan, which was originally played by Amitabh Bachchan. The film also features Sanjay Dutt, Priyanka Chopra, Rishi Kapoor in pivotal roles. The film is up for release on January 26.

Oprah Winfrey names Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's daughter

Oprah Winfrey's visit to India and more so, her visit to the Bachchan house to see Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan's daughter was most talked about. The rumour is that Oprah not only spent one hour with Aishwarya Rai and her family, she even gave a name to Beti B!

Oprah Winfrey went to visit the Bachchan family as soon as she landed at the Mumbai airport. According to a leading daily, as soon as Oprah met Aishwarya and Abhishek's daughter, she addressed her with the name 'princess'. Oprah was extremely keen on seeing Aishwarya's baby and hence rushed to see her as soon as she arrived in Mumbai. 

After spending almost an hour with the Bachchans' in their house, Amitabh Bachchan drove Oprah Winfrey along with Jaya Bachchan, Abhishek and Aishwarya to the dinner party hosted by Parmeshwar Godrej.
